Our driver will pick you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech at 8:00 AM to begin your Zagora desert tour in a cozy, air-conditioned minivan. We leave the ochre city behind and travel south-east, passing through a number of tiny, dispersed villages.

After about 100 kilometers, we begin to ascend as we approach the Atlas mountain range. The highest pass in the chain is Tizi N-Tichka (2160m), and in the winter, snow usually covers the pass. We’ll pause in one of Tichka’s cafes to stretch our legs and perhaps get a cup of coffee to help us wake up completely.

Following the pass, we once again pass through a number of Berber villages perched atop hills and mountains. There is no chance for boredom on the road because the scenery changes frequently. Upon reaching Ouarzazate (about 90 kilometers from Tichka Pass), we will make a pit stop to see the lovely Kasbah of Taourirt (the former residence of Caid Pacha Glaoui) and the museum of cinema because Ouarzazate is a well-known location for filming and has two enormous film studios that attract some of the top international experts in the cinema industry to work there.

After seeing the sights in Ouarzazate, we’ll take a 90-kilometer drive through more picturesque valleys to Agdez so we can take in the city’s palmeraie from a vantage point there. Our lunch destination, a lovely Kasbah in Tamnougalt, is then just a few turns away. To get there, we detour slightly from the main road, cross a river, and then drive through some fields.

The Kasbah has a nice terrace looking at the palm grove and sunny enough to warm you up on cold days. After lunch, we continue our desert trip to the city of Zagora, where the camels await you at the end of the paved road, to take you to the bivouac in the dunes just in time to witness the majestic sunset and take memorable photos.

Once you arrive at the bivouac of Zagora desert, you are welcomed by the staff, given your tents and gather for a mint tea session to get to know eachother and break the ice with other comers. The night in the desert camp has a clear sky and you can see countless stars and easyli distinguish the constellations.

After a nice home made dinner, we gather around fire to enjoy a session of singing, dancing and laughing around fire, share beautiful moments and forget the world.

The second day of your Zagora desert excursion begins with an early breakfast so you don’t miss Zagora’s spectacular sunset, another chance for lovely photos.
Then Ride the camels back to the car at the end of the paved road. Leave Zagora behind and return immediately to the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, where you will have lunch before exploring the location, which has been designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
The most well-known films to use this village as a backdrop are “The Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and even some of the classic television series “Game of Thrones.” Only seven families remain in the historic village of Ait Benhaddou; the others have relocated to the valley’s other, more contemporary side.
Ksar Ait benhaddou was a pausing station for the caravanes traveling along the Ounila valley, the merchants either exchange goods here and go back to the desert, or pause to rest then continue to Marrakech, they used to trade salt, silver and slaves.

After visiting the Ksar of Ait benhaddou, we will take the road back to Marrakech, to arrive there at around 6 or 7pm, where your driver will drop you at the location of your choice.
